Streamlining Delivery at St. Antonius Hospital with SwiftBot
St. Antonius Hospital in Utrecht has deployed two SwiftBots to enhance its delivery operations. These advanced delivery robots are designed to navigate the hospital’s multi-floor environment to efficiently collect and transport pathological materials. This innovative approach significantly improves workflow and optimizes the time available for healthcare staff to focus on patient care.
Before the introduction of the SwiftBots, hospital staff faced challenges with manually transporting specimens across multiple floors. This labor-intensive process consumed valuable time and diverted attention from more critical patient care responsibilities, potentially leading to delays in diagnosis and treatment.
The two SwiftBots operate autonomously throughout the hospital, executing fixed routes three times a day to collect samples from various outpatient clinics. Equipped to utilize elevators, the robots can effortlessly navigate between floors, picking up specimens such as biopsies and delivering them to the designated messenger for transport to the Pathology department in Nieuwegein. This capability not only streamlines the delivery process but also reduces the physical strain on hospital staff.

The deployment of SwiftBots has transformed the hospital’s internal deliveries. By relieving healthcare personnel of the task of delivering samples, staff can now allocate more time to direct patient care and other essential duties. The efficiency gained through this robotic assistance has improved delivery times and overall operational workflow, leading to heightened staff morale and improved patient service.
